GLOSSARY · DEFINITION
RevOps-as-code
Revenue operations expressed as engineered, repeatable pipelines — enrichment, scoring, research, orchestration — instead of meetings, spreadsheets, and tribal knowledge.
RevOps-as-code is revenue operations expressed as engineered, repeatable systems: enrichment that runs on schedule, scoring rules that live in configuration instead of someone's head, AI research pipelines, and orchestration logic that behaves the same way every time it runs. The contrast term is RevOps-as-people — process consulting, operating cadences, and judgment delivered through meetings.
The split is reshaping the category. Funding, agency M&A, and hiring are concentrating on the engineered side, and the tooling (Clay-style pipelines, AI agents, warehouse-native GTM) has made a one-person GTM engineering function genuinely productive. But code alone has a failure mode: automation without governance ships mistakes at machine speed, against data that decays roughly 30% a year.
Growth Orbit deliberately works both modes. The platform is the code — managed market data, enrichment, skill-pack AI research, signal scoring, cost attribution on every automated action. The operators are the governance — deciding what the pipelines should do, reviewing what they did, owning the cadence. Most providers sell one mode; the working system needs both. See RevOps-as-a-Service.
